Press Ctrl+Shift+1 (customizable) to place the cursor in the text box closest to the center of the screen on a webpage with text fields. Why: Many webpages require typing as your first action. This includes entering your username to log in or typing text to search. Sometimes a webpage does not focus the user's primary text box, meaning the user has to click it with the mouse, an extra step. Sometimes your hands are already on the keyboard ready to type, and moving your hand back to the mouse and then back to the keyboard is a lot of work. How: With the extension, simply press Ctrl+Shift+1 to place the text cursor in the main input field on the webpage. It's that simple. Features: This extension is different from simply pressing Tab to move focus between a webpage's form controls. It has the following unique features: - Focuses only text boxes, ignoring buttons and links. - If there are multiple text boxes, focuses the one closest to the center of the screen. This lets you focus a login box instead of a search box. - Focuses only text boxes at the current scroll position. This prevents focusing text boxes at the very top or bottom of the page. - If there are password and ordinary text boxes, password boxes have lower priority. - If the webpage has a text box with the "autofocus" attribute, that box is selected first. Customization: To customize the keyboard shortcut, click the hamburger menu -> More tools -> Extensions -> click the hamburger menu on the left -> Keyboard shortcuts.
