Genderblocker

A plugin that maximizes the readability of webpages. Genderblocker is a Chrome plugin that automatically rewrites gender-inclusive language into commonly used German (for example, "Freund*innen" becomes "Freunde"). The motivation behind this project is to maximize the readability of blogs, news articles and similar content. This can make such texts more accessible to people with reading and spelling difficulties, those who use screen-reading software, or those with similar limitations. Genderblocker can also make it easier for proficient readers to decipher contracts, terms and conditions and similar documents. The plugin can be enabled or disabled individually on each site to tailor the browsing experience to the user. Note: When you install Genderblocker, you will receive a warning that the plugin can access your browsing history. This is a standard warning; user information is never stored or shared. Found a bug?
