StatsFacts

The extension finds keywords on webpages visited by the user and provides additional factual information about them. Statistics Estonia created the StatsFacts web extension for its 100th anniversary. Its aim is to improve data literacy and bring reliable statistics produced under the official statistics programme closer to their users. The extension marks one or more words on a webpage as links that provide additional information about the keyword. The links lead to topic pages, content pages or applications on the Statistics Estonia website (including dashboards and Tõetamm). The benefits of using StatsFacts are as follows. 1. Users can quickly and conveniently get an overview of the subject and related terms. 2. Users can quickly get an overview of official statistics related to the subject or a specific keyword. 3. While reading online text, users can check facts by reviewing the latest data related to the subject or keyword. 4. Users become familiar with Statistics Estonia applications and other web solutions. StatsFacts thus helps enrich online text and improve statistical awareness and data literacy by helping users quickly find reliable information about a subject or keyword of interest. In the extension settings, users can choose a language and set the level of detail (an information article or just one specific chart), or specify web addresses where use of the extension should be restricted. The StatsFacts web extension works only in Google Chrome.
