Description

To protect your privacy, this extension warns you when a URL appears to be a redirect URL and does not use HTTPS. If a link you visit appears to be a redirect and is not loaded over HTTPS, it exposes the redirect link to snoopers. For example, if you visit: http://www.example.com/redirect?goto=https://www.paypal.me/ashleymadison/100USD Do you see how the "HTTP" in "http://www.example.com" indicates that it is insecure? Because example.com does not use HTTPS, everyone on the internet will know that you intend to visit PayPal to send money to Ashley Madison. Even though the PayPal site will load over HTTPS, your intention has already been exposed through the insecure connection to example.com. This extension catches these potential problems and gives you the following options: 1. Try loading example.com over HTTPS 2. Load paypal.me directly over HTTPS 3. Continue with the insecure link The extension also pings the root page on example.com over HTTPS to see if it is reachable. If it is, the extension automatically loads example.com over HTTPS. It also pings the root page on paypal.me over HTTPS to see if it is reachable, and adds a check mark or cross so you can decide whether to go there directly. The pings protect your privacy by sending HEAD requests without cookies or referrers. Root pages are selected to reduce side effects and protect your privacy.
