Measure video streaming quality as you watch. Search your viewing history across platforms.
⭐️ Check connection quality while using real services ⭐️
⭐️ Automatically adjust video bitrate to reduce data usage ⭐️
⭐️ Help research internet connection quality ⭐️
Web VideoMark records video playback and connection quality information while you watch streaming services such as YouTube, including bitrate, resolution, data usage, connection speed, and whether playback is smooth and uninterrupted. On some services, it can also display a perceived quality score from 1 to 5, limit resolution or bitrate to save data, and automatically adjust quality during busy periods to preserve network bandwidth.
After installation, simply play a video of your choice on a supported streaming service covered by the study. Measurements and perceived quality calculations run automatically while you watch. After viewing, you can review a list of results and compare them with measurements from other users.
Check whether your carrier or provider lets you watch actual video services comfortably and at high quality.
■■■ How to use ■■■
When you play a video on a supported streaming service covered by the study, such as YouTube, the extension automatically measures network quality, including speed and response time, as well as viewing information such as bitrate and resolution used to estimate perceived quality. During measurement, the VideoMark icon added to the toolbar changes from gray to color, and measurements appear in the upper-left corner of the video (you can turn off this display in settings).
After watching, open the results or history page from the VideoMark icon to see how much video you watched, a list of videos viewed, and network and player information from viewing sessions.
To reduce data usage while watching video, enable resolution or bitrate limits, or automatic bitrate limits during busy periods, in settings.
For a list of covered services and the features and limitations supported by each service, see the specifications page:

■■■ About Web VideoMark ■■■
Web VideoMark is a research project that analyzes and publishes quality data collected during actual use of video streaming services, which account for 60% of internet bandwidth, to help use network resources effectively and improve quality.
Viewing data collected through this extension is used in academic research and to help carriers, providers, other telecommunications operators, and video streaming providers improve service quality. Please help research aimed at improving the quality of the services you use and the internet as a whole.
■■■ Privacy ■■■
While you watch videos, this extension records viewing information needed to evaluate and analyze service quality, including video information such as bitrate and resolution, events such as seeking, and the browser used (UserAgent). This information is not recorded in a form that can be linked to personally identifiable information. Privacy measures are also applied so that individuals cannot be reidentified from anonymous data through statistical processing.
