Need a practical example? You manage a site and want to remove an old HTML block that you no longer need and that weighs down your page. Set up a sniffer to search for that block and browse your site. You no longer need to view and search the source page by page: you will be alerted if your code still exists on one of your pages. Or, conversely, you want to add code to every page of your site. For example, for SEO you want title, meta description, and keyword tags to be present.
