Marco Ubaldo Diaz (Chinese voice: He Zhiwei; English voice: Adam McArthur) A Mexican-American boy who is 14 when first introduced, he has brown hair and a beauty mark beneath his right eye. Naturally considerate and gentle, he gets excellent grades and is skilled at cooking and karate. He is somewhat overly cautious and careful, and has a habit of being a neat freak. At school he is nicknamed the "safe kid," a nickname he does not much like. He says he owns more than a dozen red hoodies because he likes red and hoodies. Many exchange students had stayed with his family before Star came to stay, so his family is very easygoing with Star and the other former exchange students. He regards Star as his closest friend, checks on her from time to time, and offers her advice. In "Face the Music," he learns from the poet Ruberiot's performance that Star has a crush on him, making their relationship awkward until their friendship is restored in the third season. He has had a crush on his classmate Jackie since kindergarten, and becomes extremely nervous and sweats heavily whenever he talks to her. In "Sleepover," he confesses his feelings to Jackie in front of everyone.
