Take over the browser's new-tab settings and open a URL that can be changed at any time. This open-source, free browser extension can point new tabs to any URL and move keyboard focus to the newly opened page. The extension provides a blank new-tab page that loads the Vimium C script by default to support its shortcuts. You can disable this on the extension's settings page. The extension also provides a copy of Vimium C's vomnibar.html. You can set Vimium C's "Custom search box page" option to chrome-extension://cglpcedifkgalfdklahhcchnjepcckfn/vomnibar.html to help reduce Vimium C's own memory usage.
