Twitter, Download Original Image

Adds a “Save image in original size” menu item when you right-click an image in a post on the Twitter Web App (twitter.com). Twitter's timeline loads resized images, so saving them directly does not save the largest available image. This extension adds a “Save image in original size” item to the menu when you right-click an image attached to a post. Choose “Right-click” -> “Save image in original size” to save a larger image. Since around July 2023, changes to Twitter have caused timeline thumbnails to load in WebP format. A temporary workaround is in place to download these in their original JPG or PNG format as well. ■ Frequently asked questions Q. I want to change the save location from the “Downloads” folder. A. The setting under Chrome's [ Settings > Downloads > Download location ] applies. Q. I want to choose a save location every time. A. In the same settings section, check “Ask where to save each file before downloading”. Q. I would like you to add a particular feature. A. I appreciate and read your suggestions, but I do not plan to actively add new features. The current basic policy for this extension is to maintain its existing features as much as possible so they remain usable even when Twitter changes its specifications. The more complicated the features become, the more likely they are to be significantly affected by such changes, so I would like to keep the extension simple. Dealing directly with the currently extremely unstable Twitter is quite challenging. Thank you for your understanding. ■ Notes - This extension downloads images stored on Twitter using the “orig” parameter. Within the scope of my observations, specifying this parameter returns an image the same size as the uploaded image. However, it has still been processed by Twitter and is not strictly identical to the original image. For example, Exif information present before posting is not retained. - The extension is developed for the Japanese interface. In theory, it should work with other display languages, but this has not been tested. - The extension is developed for Google Chrome.
